The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is an international bank account number used to identify bank accounts in international transactions. In Spain, the IBAN format is as follows:

  • Length: 24 characters
  • Structure:
  • Country code: 2 letters (Spanish is “ES”)
  • Check digits: 2 digits
  • Bank code: 4 digits (bank and branch code)
  • Account number: 10 digits

For example, a Spanish IBAN could have the following format: ES00 1234 5678 9012 3456 7890.

Remember that the IBAN code must be unique for each account and is generated based on the national account number, so there is no single “IBAN code” for all Spanish banks. Each bank and each account will have its own specific IBAN.
