Who governs Spain? How long has he been in power and until when?
As of October 2023, the Prime Minister of Spain is Pedro Sánchez, leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE). He took office on June 2, 2018, following a vote of no confidence that removed then-President Mariano Rajoy from office. Pedro Sánchez has been re-elected following the general election in July 2023, where his party formed a coalition government with the Sumar party.
The length of his term depends on several factors, including the support he receives in Parliament and whether new elections are called. In Spain, the legislature lasts four years, so in theory his term could extend until 2027, unless early elections are called.
